We had a wonderful Under 13 campaign in
2011. We won a number of our games and were narrowly defeated in our quest to
make the Tipperary Cumann na mBunscol Hurling Finals. Every player on the panel
received “game time” and the improvement in some off the children as the year
progressed was simply amazing. Although we did not win any titles, we had an
amazing year. We played challenge games against some much bigger schools and
acquitted ourselves very well. I believe the skill levels of most of the
children improved and the enjoyment we got from our games was immense.

Tuesday, 28th September
proved to be a very special day for the children and staff of Dualla NS.
Just after lunchtime Co. Board Chairman Barry O’ Brien, Mid Tipperary GDA
Officer Andy Ryan and Tipperary Senior hurling star Jodie Brennan arrived with
the much coveted Liam McCarthy Cup. Chairman Barry O’ Brien complimented the
children on the hard work they had undertaken in preparation for the visit. GDA
Officer Andy Ryan spoke of the dedication required to make it to the very top
and expressed a hope that some of the children would aspire to follow in the
footsteps of Jody and his wonderful team-mates. Jody then answered some of the
questions which the children had prepared. He impressed upon the children the
importance of regular practice and also highlighted the importance of healthy
eating. Jody then happily poised for photographs with every child in the
school. The children all got the opportunity to poise alongside the All-Ireland
Under 21 Trophy and the Liam McCarthy Cup. Finally, the children performed
Seamus Doran’s recently composed Tipperary Anthem “Were You There?” much to the
delight of Barry, Andy and Jodie. It was a very special day for all at Dualla NS.
A special thanks is due to Barry, Andy and Jodie for facilitating this
wonderful event.
