The launch of our much anticipated school book ‘Recalling the Past & Growing the Future’ takes place in the school this Friday, June 28th at 7.30p.m. The book is a glorious reflection on the illustrious history of the school. We are very excited about the book launch and look forward to seeing you all on the night. Paperback editions will cost €15 on the night. Hardback copies can be ordered on the night. They will cost €20 and should be available by mid July at the latest. Joan Kennnedy and Kathleen O’Donnell will have copies of the book if anybody wishes to purchase extra copies over the Summer.

Tea and coffee will be served on the night of the Book Launch. We will also need cakes, buns, tarts, etc. Please bring whatever you can to the school on Friday morning or alternatively at 7pm Friday evening prior to the Launch.

We  are looking for ten volunteers in total to help sell our school book at masses in the parish this weekend. We did not secure a grant for the book despite our best efforts so it is vital we sell as many copies of the book as possible. We need volunteers to sell books this weekend at the following masses: Dualla – Saturday: 6.30p.m. Sunday 9.30a.m. Boherlahan – Saturday: 7.30p.m. Sunday: 8.30a.m. & 11.00a.m. Please text your name and the time of the mass that you can volunteer at to school mobile 0871701858 if available. We can then give you a box of books at the book launch.

Table Quiz

The Dualla NS Parents Association will hold a table quiz fundraiser on Friday July 5th in the Community Hall, Dualla at 7.30pm sharp. Tables of 4 are €20 for adults and €10 for a children’s table. Children must be accompanied to the quiz by their parents. All families are asked to please support this fundraiser which will help the parents association to continue to meet its expenses. Donations of baking etc would also be appreciated. Come along to this lovely worthwhile social event.

We break up for the Summer Holidays this Friday, June 28th at 12.30p.m. We wish all the children and their families a safe and enjoyable Summer. School will reopen on Monday, 26th August 2013.

Dualla NS play host to Tipp FM’s ‘Down Your Way’ host Eamon O’ Dwyer

The Tipp FM ‘Down Your Way’ radio show host Eamon O’Dwyer visited the school today. Our school is to feature on this very popular radio show which will hopefully air during the summer holidays.

We had some very special guests visit the school today. These included former Principal Liam Ó Duibhir, past pupils Libby Toomey and Dermot O’Halloran, Fr. Joe Egan, former secondary school teacher Johnny Gleeson, former Dualla NS Teacher Aileen Colton, Tom Ryan and Sacristan Kathleen O’ Donnell. All these people were here to reflect on their long associations with the school and to also talk about the imminent launch of our school book ‘Recalling the Past & Growing the Future’.

Eamon visited all three classrooms. He interviewed 4th and 5th Class on a wide range of topics some of which included Cumann na mBunscol, Drama, School History, Preparation for Sacraments, etc. Rang 1 -3 read out their superb poem ‘Mighty, Mighty Room 2’ which they had prepared especially for Eamon’s visit.

The highlight of the day though was undoubtedly the performance of the Infant Classes and the excellent singing they served up for Eamon. Their ‘Hedgehog’ song went down a treat with everybody. We thank everybody who contributed to the programme and we look forward to hearing the finished product during our summer holidays. Special thanks must also be extended to Tipp FM’s Eamon O’Dwyer for fitting us into his busy schedule.

Mighty, Mighty Room 2!

Mighty, Mighty Room 2

Three teachers in Dualla school

And all of them are cool!

Another three visit and teach

Sometimes they give us a worksheet each.

There are twenty-eight in Room 2

Who would like to welcome you.

First class adds up to twelve

They keep their books on the shelves

Small break is at eleven

In second class there are seven

And In third we have nine

Eoin always tells the time

Ann Marie is a star

Her husband’s name is Lar

We are all very clever

We have the best teacher ever!

Oh! What fun we had today

How we enjoyed ‘Down Your Way’
