Halloween Fun for UNICEF Non Uniform Day

On Friday we held a non uniform day for UNICEF’s Syrian Aid Appeal.
The children and their families donated generously again. Míle buíochas.

Different activities took place in the different classrooms to celebrate the festival of Halloween.

Ms. McElligott’s class had a great time playing some Halloween games which are a great annual tradition in the Junior Classroom.

Ms. Lahart’s class & Mr. Manley’s class enjoyed some singing, Halloween Table Quiz, Halloween Poetry & some Halloween Art to mark the occasion.

Many of the children dressed up in Halloween costume on Friday. The school was full of Skeletons, witches, vampires and lots of other scary Halloween characters for the day!!

Well done to all the children. Happy Halloween!

Report on Fire Safety Talk by Ciara G Rang 3

Safety Team

We had visitors from the fire station on Monday.

They told us about some of the safety team.

Here are some of the names, these are the GOOD PEOPLE. Beep the smoke alarm, Fire Bot  the robot and Plan Ma-, he knows what to do when there is a fire.  These are some of the BAD PEOPLE – Arc- the plug, Steamy and Sizzle – a cooker and chip pan, Wickman – the candle and stubb the ash tray.  They also gave us a safety team book that has lots of information like what to do in case of a fire and all of that stuff.  There was a word search and a board game too.

UNICEF Non Uniform Day This Friday

On Friday, October 26th, we will have a non uniform Day in aid of UNICEF’s Syrian Children’s emergency appeal. This will be our last non uniform day of the year in support of charity. We suggest that each child donates €1 to this appeal. There is no obligation however to do so. As is tradition, the children are allowed to come to school in Halloween costumes this Friday. Again, there is no obligation to do so.

Weather Permitting, hurling training will take place during school this Friday. We would encourage children in all classes to bring their hurleys & helmets to school every Friday.

Finally, congratulations to our young Under 11 Footballers who have qualified for the County Final following their wonderful Blitz victory in Littleton last week. This is the first time in our history that we have reached a County Under 11 Football Final. Comhghairdeas.

School finishes at the normal time on Friday. It is NOT a half day. We wish everybody a happy and peaceful Halloween. Stay safe.

Following the Halloween Break, school will reopen on Monday, November 5th.

Maths Quiz For Maths Week

We had an Eight Round Maths Quiz this morning for 4th & 5th Class. The children performed very well. In another close contest, the girls emerged victorious by the narrowest of margins!

Tomorrow is the final day of Maths Week. It has proved to be a very enjoyable week for everybody. Tomorrow we plan to look at how Maths is used in every day life.
