I would like to take this opportunity to welcome back all the children and staff from their Summer break. We extend a special warm welcome to the new Junior Infants starting with us today. We hope they will always be safe and happy here.
Our new Shared Learning Support Teacher Ms. Breda O’Neill also commences her new position with us today. Breda will be based in our school for the majority of her teaching hours each week and becomes a permanent member of our staff. We are delighted to welcome Breda to the staff. Any children who received Learning Support last year will continue to receive it this year. Breda will take out children from the different classrooms in small groups for Learning Support. If any parents wish to meet with Breda, please ring the school to make an appointment to meet her. Breda will operate a similar system in terms of time allocation to the one used by her predecessor Ms. Anne O’Neill. Breda will also be involved in some ‘team teaching’ of the Senior Infant pupils which will see her take senior infants for part of the day each day with the emphasis being on Literacy and Numeracy.
JUNIOR INFANTS FINISH AT 12.30 EACH DAY THIS WEEK AND WILL FINISH AT THE NORMAL TIME OF 2.00P.M. FROM MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 2ND ONWARDS.
GAA Training will resume in the coming weeks. More information will follow in the coming weeks.
Our school website/blog has been nominated for a National Award at the upcoming Blog Awards Ireland ceremony. This is the second year in a row that we have been nominated for such a prestigious award. Well done to all involved.
We thank our Parents Association for organising the Table Quiz in July and everybody in the school community for their help in preparation for our recent book launch. Copies of the book can still be purchased in the office. Paperback editions are €15 with hardback editions costing €20.
To keep up to date with all school events, please visit our school website http://duallans.scoilnet.ie/blog/ or follow us on Twitter. Our Twitter username is @DuallaNS. It would be great if parents continue to post comments to the school website throughout the year.
